The National Black MBA Association Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter served as a host partner to the Minority
Franchise Association event of the International Franchise Association held at the CHG Cityplace
Conference Center in Dallas, Texas on November 20, 2010.
During the day-long seminar, participants were educated on the legal, financial and operational aspects
doing business in the franchise industry. The fundamentals of franchising, how to recognize a good
franchise opportunity and the art of financing a franchise business were some of the specific topics
discussed during the seminar.
On hand to share their personal experiences in the industry were the franchise operators from Fantastic
Sams Hair Salons, ServiceMaster Commercial Cleaning Service, and Liberty Tax Service. Some of the
lending and business consulting organizations supporting the event included American Business Lending,
Wells Fargo Bank, the Minority Business Development Agency and eAuth.com –the Entrepreneur
Authority. Miriam L. Brewer, the director of education and diversity at the International Franchise
Association coordinated the event. The program was sponsored by Coca-Cola.
